As I'm close to completing my year-long Web picturebook, I made quick trailers/teasers to post on facebook and more to motivate myself to complete this project.

This project was conceived after I discovered my wife's pregnancy. I decided to give it all I've got to complete a project as I predict I will not have time to casually draw stuff after my kid arrived.

Unfortunately, my kids decided to come out of this world before I can complete my project. Hence this project is delayed up to 6 months.

 

Currently I'm at the final stages of completion.  Around 70%. I hope to release this web picturebook by November 2013

Although Omega and Flint had vast experience in military contracts, their contracts are usually within the region with terrain they are familiar with.

Now they are all prep all and conducting a final mission briefing before they embark on their first overseas military contract. Although it is just a simple recce and patrol mission, they lack local knowledge on the terrain and people.....And they are pretty nervous.

Due to my busy work schedule, I didn't have time to sit down and complete the drawing at 1 go. I split into 3 milestones.

1st milestone is to draw a full figure Flint complete with full gears and weapons. Spending little spare time I took 1 week to complete.

The 2nd milestone is Omega with her full gear. I too spend 1 week to complete her due to my work.

The final milestone is the background, which I took 1 hour to complete.

Merging the pictures took about another 1 hour. I haven't done such artwork for a long time....still hope to get it colour.

Omega Angel, a Combat Contractor for C.M.O.S.

This supposed to be a colored artwork which I was planning for my laptop's wallpaper, guessed I procastinated too long.

It's a more updated rendition of one of my oldest characters, "Omega Vengence". Whom I renamed it to "Omega Angel" to sound more convincing and less "superhero". Created in 1996, I was heavily influenced by Image comics' "Gen 13" and "WildC.A.T.s" series, as well as Yukito Kishiro's "Gunnm" series (known as Battle Angel Alita in USA)

Omega was initially a member of the highly coverted S.O.V. team of bounty hunters. After the team split, Omega continued her days as a paid vigilante. In the C.M.O.S. series, she eventually teamed up with a fellow bounty hunter called "Flint", whom later became her love-interest.

CMOS is actually a kind of semiconductor commonly found in digital cameras. I actually learned this during my Polytechnic days and thought it's a cool name for a comic title. For the past 10 years, I created C.M.O.S with the meaning of "Cyber Mercenaries Onset Service" as Omega and Flint take up jobs via an online Mercenary Guild. During 1996 Internet in Singapore is at it's infancy and the word "Cyber" is like damn cool!

After 10 years, I decided to revamp C.M.O.S. to be more matured and convincing. The word "Mercenary" is something most do not want to be associated with. Instead they are now called "Contractors". Now C.M.O.S stands for "Civilian Military Operations Services" where Omega and Flint takes on both Military and Civilian "contracts" legally as Combat contractors.

Combat Contractors of the 21st century are bounded by a different set of Geneva conventions crafted after the Terror War. They are now required to wear the tag "Contractor" during their military operations.

For military contracts, Combat Contractors are not subjected to protection from interrogation and cannot be considered as POW. However, they are required to receive fair medical treatment and are to be treated humanely if captured.

For civilian contracts, Combat contractors are not sanctioned by the authorities and can be arrested and sentenced without trial if their operations is deemed as a major threat to the general public.

Meet Hocus, The undermentioned sidekick of pocus! My 90s design for Hocus is a oversize chubby-looking clown, but I grew to hate it so much I ditch the sidekick and let pocus go solo...This actually suits her more as she doesn't seem to be the team playing type.

Now I try to revive Hocus, but in a different way. Hocus now is only a mere marionette! Another split personality of pocus. And pocus' not even a ventriloquist!

After a hectic week, took some time off to continue my momentum. Funny thing is when things are relaxed I'm too lazy to draw and now I can barely breath from all my outstanding stuff from office and I'm drawing. I guess it's my way of escape and de-stress. Wondering how long I can keep up before work consume all of it.

I'm sorry, I won't do it again...

What is suppose to be a flashback idea became a reality on paper. Another artwork while wait for my wife to knock from overtime. If this carries on, I can do a full art book. Wasn't fully satisfied with this piece, the background is actually not nessesary and now it looks so amatuerish...

Still not bored on pocus, I decided to explore her youth at 13 to 14 years old, where she seek refuge in a performance troupe to escape her abusive uncle.

But life was tough for her as she was chosen to be an acrobatic jester. She was often abused and punished by her trainer for any mistakes and failures. In here she almost suffer mental breakdown due to the tough training.

But all this is fated, for this is also the very place she learned acrobatic skills that will aid she in she hired jobs in the future.

I love crazy blanket-parties....

Still fueled by the sketch from Sunday, I decided to do another one last night while wait for my wife to knock from her overtime. After this I'm totally maxed out.

This is pocus during covering her "dirty act" under the sheets. pocus have a tendancy to go on a "killing spree" once awhile even if it's not her hired job..She seemed to have something for leching rapists or those who sexually abuse their own kids or relatives....

She like how they scream in fear and pain running from her...

A lazy sunday afternoon, I decided to pack my artworks and stuff and I flipped through my "pocus" filebook containing all the old artworks of the "pocus" character I did from Polytechnic till more recent times (2008?) Except for those "recent" sketches, I realised most of the artwork of "pocus" are unrefined due to my infant skill during those times.

Funny bcos "pocus" is suppose to be my internet monikor yet I neglected her the most. Inspired, I decided to recreate "pocus" in my current idea of how she should be like during those days. Based on the costume I did for her from this entry, I refined her looks.

Hope to create more "pocus" artworks in coming days (if time permits)

Partly influenced by watching too much Initial D animes, playing Gran Turismo 4 and by my love for cars. My mind thought of a more realistic version of Initial D in Singapore context.

The story starts from a normal guy who get to own the one and only Limited edition Toyota Vios Turbo paralled imported from Thailand. There he was pitted against only raging machine only to surprise opponents with his sleeper cars.

Of course the rest story I thought out deals with more realistic issues of racing, including crashes, police chases and of course, ERP. Maybe I'll do the comic someday. But it's confirmed NOT LTA APPROVED. LOLz

This artwork took almost a day to complete, was done Jan 2010. It is my latest artwork.

S.O.V. (was called "Sisters of Vengeance" initially...*shrudders*) is one of my earliest creations. About a group of 3 female bounty hunters in a troubled future. Though it may sound cliche but hell I created S.O.V back in School 1995. It was a cool idea then.

During 1995, my drawing skill is at in infancy, the S.O.V. characters I drew then were simpler and less refine. It was great fun drawing them again in 2007, especially without their full gears and weapons and only in their underwears.

Meet Magdelene(left), Omega(middle) and Sigma(right). Don't worry, you'll get to see more of them in their full gears soon enough!

A mid 2008 attempt to re-design pocus and to brush up my long rusted drawing.... As you can see, it qualifies for failblog. I still can't believe I forgot about her boobs. Posting this make me feel like re-attempting to draw her again.

Done in 2000, this is one my attempts to draw a more serious and realistic looking character instead of the typical Japanese anime styles I was attempting to copy in the mid 90s.

As for this character, it's one of my first comic character. She goes by the name of "pocus" as a circus performer turned assassin. Long story just right for a comic! "pocus" became sort of my trademark as my internet identity goes by the nick "pocus" in many of the forums I frequent. In fact "pocus" is my first internet account's user ID!

I forgot when I did this work, should be around 2004, but it's an attempt redraw a similar pose I did during 1999 on the same character. This character, tentatively called "Hei An" ("Peace" or "Tranquility" in Japanese) was the result of a major influence from reading Shirow Masamune's comics and Luis Royo's III Millennium artbook during NS times.
