About
Comparing taking care of a infant kid versus Military Service

Year
Jul 2013

eXpressions
Taking care of my kid and doing night duties has taking a toll on me. All this fatique reminds me of my time in military service 10 years ago. The only difference is I was in my prime when I was serving, now I'm lacking behind in terms of physical and mental fitness.

Cleaning the bottles are stuff and akin to cleaning my rifle during night training. This comical strip is to highlight my point.

Delicated to all Fathers who served in the military...

Crazy Tank designs for Facebook Military sketch group

eXpressions
Someone had a crazy idea on the military sketch group I frequent in facebook: To design and create the more ridiculous and craziest battle tank I can think of.

I came up a few during my night duties with my 1 month old kid. Seems like the more stressed and tired you are, the crazier you get.

Here are some of my hastily drawn creation. I apologize for the lack of refinement as I'm like most dead from taking care of my forever crying infant at night. -_-"

Untitled Lonely Character

Tools
Traditional doodling/sketching

About
As she stop and rested, she ponders on the long and lonely stretch of road may eventually lead to another deadend

Year
October 2012

eXpressions
I was just doodling and trying to break out my artist's block when I doodled her. An ordinary post-apocalytic girl archetype. I haven't give much thought on her characterization at first but decided to use she as a practice for my skills in later artworks.

I aim to make her a simple yet appealing character that drawn attention from the people who sees her. I also aim to make she more relatable to Singaporeans.

She will be a testbed for my own experiments in comic drawing, to honed on my fundamentally and go back to basic.

Stay tune for more artworks on her...

Speed Drawing

Speed drawing with Wacom intuos 4 and PS CS5.1.

About
First pic: Fuck My Life!
Second pic: Carebears "Revenge Bear" to the rescue!!

eXpressions
Wife's still in office overtime. She's stressed out. The first pic probably explains her stress level that that point of time. The 2nd pic is a gift for her to motivate her using her favorite "Carebear".

Hitting a slump.lately and I'm too lazy to draw on the paper and scan, so I just whacked from the tablet. When I was drawing the "Revenge Bear" pic, My PC crashed during coloring phase. I wasted some time rebooting and redrawing again as I forgot to save my work during coloring. I gave up after the 2nd crash and took a pic from my cellphone while the PC hunged on me. It's not really complete but I don't think I want to continue a speed drawing artwork, the momentum is already gone.

The crash on my PC is resulting from TDR timeout exceeded from PC CS with my Nvidia GPU. I tweaked some regedit settings and hope the problem will go away.

"Carebears" is a trademark of American Greetings Corporation, Inc.. The "Revenge Bear" is a self-created non-profit likeness and parody of the "carebear" and is in no way representing the original "Carebears" franchise.

Team ES1 Polo Tee - Draft

About
Team ES1 Basis Team for HRMS Project. We survived.

July 2011

eXpressions
Imagine, for months ever since Deepavali 2010 till National Day 2011, You have been working late almost everyday and even in the weekends.

Imagine, since April 2011, you have been working at extreme timings and getting less than 4 hours sleep everyday including both weekends. You reach home at 4 to 5am only to see an sleeping wife. You wake up 9 - 10am and slog it out for the day again, even on Saturdays and Sundays.

And if it's not bad enough, imagine that instead of working in a comfy office table and chair, you work in freezing temperature of the server room. Noisy, Cold and lifeless. No windows to peep and no internet. LAN wires all around without a good desk or chair. You sloth on tiny benches and sometimes even on the floor. You even stand throughout the day working on the server terminal if you are unable to get a bench.

And if that's not bad enough, imagine the work you do, super tight deadlines to meet, adhoc requests and issues arising in system you have no idea how to solve, and you need to solve it by 1 hour! Your boss suddenly throws more shit at you and you find youself busy to brim. You work on systems that no one else in the Company knows and you gotta get things up. You get more suprises issues, got activated last minute to resolve and fix issues.

And not only that, you are hit with logistic issues, servers not arriving on time, approvals not met, services not processed and you are really squeezed to the core.

And you thought that's all, office politics arise, you hear other teams are not happy, you heard sacastic remarks, you cracked, you raise your voice at fellow colleagues and even bosses. Your morale was low and you feel like quiting.

That sums up that kind of stuff we've gone through for the past year. Any worst, we would be fight in combat.

So in order to boost the morale of my team, I proposed to do up a Polo Tee which we can all keep and wear with pride, knowing that we've gone through shit and survived as a more cohesive team.

I did a rough draft in a short 2 hours and send it to my team. Was met with overwelming response and we decided to go ahead of the design.

Weapon Talk: SR-98P PARAcarbine

Tools
Pencils with help from the ruler

About
Weapon from the "C.M.O.S" Universe. The SR-98P PARA-Carbine. A unique weapon that is effective in both air and underwater.

Before the Global Terror War, Chartered Industries of Singapore (CIS) developed the SR-88 assault rifle meant for export, however the rifle was not very successful in sales. Subsequently, CIS was bought over by ST Kinetics and the SR-88 ceased production.

After the war, TT Kinetics (Rename from ST Kinetic) released most of it's old rifle patents and designs, including the SR-88, to open market as it deemed the designs obsolete and have reached it's "end of lifecycle". Various emerging firearms manufacturer adopted the SR-88's design in their product.

Based on combat experiences gathered from the war and a need for a fully functional underwater assault rifle, a Singaporean independant firearms Manufacturer, Combat Innovation Standards Pte Ltd (ironically AKA CIS), bought the SR-88 blueprints to work on a prototype.

In barely 2 years, a working prototype, codenamed "Harpoon-S", was announed to the market and the final product, renamed as SR-98, when into production the following year.

The SR-98 operates basically like any other rifles in the market. It's based on the close-bolt action. The only innovation is that it chassis, magazines and barrels are completely water-tight with "Submerging Integrated Liquid Lid" (S.I.L.L) waterproof component that allow a S.I.L.L. compressed gas nip to be fitted. This allows the rifle to be fired underwater up to the depth of around 3 meters. Each S.I.L.L. gas nip can be use for a magazine of 30 rounds.
S.I.L.L. technology is patented in UA, EUS and Trancel City.

The "P" Variant PARA-Carbine is configured for light-weight airborne/seaborne operations with a foldable and extendable stock and integrated Picatinny Rails for Tactical customizations.

Designed this weapon during NS times in 1998 or 1999. During that time I had a big fasination on Singapore-made weapons like the Ultimax 100, SAR-80 and SR-88B. SR-88 was pretty low-profile as SAF did not adopt the weapon. It's meant for export.

With rumors of a new weapon in the works as SAF's standard issue, I begin to speculate how the weapon might looked like. Banging on my knowledge on the Israeli Galil Assault rifle, I fused the Galil and SR-88 together to form a new hyrid called SR-98.

The waterproofing part is only though off after I decided to make this the main medium-sized weapon for my "C.M.O.S" female protagonist, Omega!

It's only a year later I realise the new weapon is indeed the SAR-21 bullpup rifle, a total different philosophy from my conventional "SR-98" look.

Weapon Talk: LM-12B

Tools
Pencils only, and of course, with ruler

About
Weapon from the "C.M.O.S" Universe. The LM-12B Tactical Assault Rifle. A Standard issue of the UA Army after the war.

The LM-12 is the standard Weapon used by the UA Army since the end of Global "Terror War". The original design, based on the bullpup configuration, is innovated by reowned firearms designer Nikolai Korzhukov. The LM-12's design managed to keep most of the operating functions similar to the war-proven AR15 and M16 rifles which most UA soldiers are familiar with.

It was further enhanced and modified by it's mass manufacturer, United Arms Agency Inc, to cater for both advanced military and civilian needs.

LM-12 features the NATO k.V. box magazine that is known for is versatility. It's rotating buldge tip enables the magazine to be attached to the weapon at any angle, reducing reloading times and magazine/ammunition damage/jamming during the heat of the battle. Due to the unique design, the k.V. box magazine is also capable of holding up to 50 rounds of standard NATO 5.56mm ammunition. Currently, Magazines payloads are available in 50 rounds, 40 rounds and 25 rounds for civilian use.

The LM-12 is compatibility with plug-in I.O.N. booster adapters for increased rate of fire and range without replacing a delicated barrel or bolt carrier assembly. However the barrel's heating threshold will exceed after 3 full Magazine of continuous firing and the weapon's thermo fail-safe mechanism will lock the trigger until the barrel cools down below threshold. The mechanism can, however, be overwritten with a add-on module.

The LM-12 is also fully ambidextrous with no external parts swapping needed. The weapon can be easily switched by re-assembling the weapon and switching the positions of it's internal components

The LM-12 "B" variant includes an integrated Picatinny rails with P.R.I.C.K interfaces ports for tactical flexibility with the latest weapons attachments.

Designed this weapon during NS times in 1999 or 2000. Was inspired by the SAR-21 and AUG-77 then. This weapon was the main weapon used the male protagonist in my "C.M.O.S." Series.

Since then, firearms evolve a little to accomodate customized add-ons, so I updated my weapon to go with the trend and added a little FN F2000 elements to it. Quite happy with the outcome.

Rough interior sketch my our home's desired design.

Year
April 2010

eXpressions
How to renovate and decorate our home interior has been a headache and major cause for our move-in plans.

After much fruitful discussion, we decided to create more of a comtemporary Japanese kind of theme with a touch of tradition sense. Much from the inspirations from one of our favorite anime, Totoro where the characters from modern Japan moved into a traditional japanese rice plantation village to recuperate and live a rural life.

Out of enthusiasm, I did my own research and did some rough sketches on our interior desired theme.

This is a basis of what we show to our interior designers so there will not have any miscommunications.

Katoots Kat.E

About
A proposed character called Kat.E of a now defunct Toy Collectors Forum "Katoots".

Year

2008

eXpressions
I was once deeply involved in a Toy Collectors Forum called "Katoots", Designed tonnes of characters and items for the forum to flourish. But sadly, a things come to an end.

Now I have some resentments for the Katoots founders, for some reasons I felt the management "played everyone out" and shut the forum out some to some mismanagement. Thinking back the whole episode is so immature. Anyway that's a rant for another time.

As much as I try to forget Katoots, I cannot bare to forget the creations I did. It's after all my hard work. If noone appreciates it fine, at least I do appreciate my own stuff instead of going into self-destruct mode and close the blog.

This "Kat.E" character is suppose to be some moderator robot for Katoots.

Kat.E is NOT copyright of Katoots. The character belongs to me.

About
The girl in BreadTalk outfit serving all the nice "buns"...hehe

eXpressions
I forgot when this was done, 2002 I think before I met my wife. Perhaps I was having a fetish for uniformed girls that time, cos I have no idea why I drew a BreadTalk girl. But I remembered that some thoughts of setting up a website full of Stereotypical girls in Singapore. Of course the website didn't make it.

The uniform is the old school BreadTalk uniform. I understand they've already changed their uniform to a different design.
